OCRing Files With Large Pages is Sloooow

Post by mCHSNUg5Pz8cPap »

For reasons I do not know, the USPTO provides patents with massive page sizes (90.31 cm x 116.42 cm). For example:
US10500900_orig.pdf
If I OCR the patent with the settings below, it takes a loooooong time.

However, if I resize the pages first (to either letter or A4), then OCRing is fast.

Is this expected behavior?

Hi mCHSNUg5Pz8cPap,

Yes I'm afraid it's normal for OCR to take longer when pages are larger - especially when they are very large, as is the case with the document you shared.

Kind regards,
