Visible items/ layers

Hello,

I would like to know how to bring items or even whole layers to the foreground or send them to the back. How can I adjust the order what is visible on top?

"Layers" is a misnomer which we only use because it was the industry standard term for these items by the time we were able to implement them. In practice, "Layers" would be better called "optional visibility groups" and effectively their sole purpose is to quickly show/hide specific groups of items, usually based on system language or a manual toggle.

Layers have no impact on content order. There are effectively only 2 actual layers by the definition we all think of when the term is said. In PDF these are "Base content items", and "Comments". Comments will invariably, always be on top of base content items, and it is not possible to place a comment behind base content in any scenario.

In your situation, the best I could advise for you is to hide all other "layers", and, assuming that every object in your document is part of a given layer, all that should remain is the items you wish to view/work with. You can then select each of the items that are visible, and use the "bring to front" function (on the arrange tab). After this, when you re-show all the other layers, the respective items should be on top of their peers from other layers (base content above base content, and comments above most other comments and base content).
