Microsoft Outlook 365 does not properly preview pdfs converted by PDF-XChange.
Pdfs converted by other apps work as intended.
Steps to reproduce:
I have an Example Word.docx (attached).
I convert it via PDF-XChange Editor: right click on the file > "Open in PDF-XChange Editor" (attached Example PDF-XChange.pdf).
I convert it via Adobe Acrobat Pro: right click on the file > "Convert to Adobe PDF" (attached Example Adobe Acrobat Pro.pdf).
I convert it via Foxit PDF Editor: right click on the file > "Convert to PDF in Foxit PDF Editor" (attached Example Foxit.pdf).
I open Microsoft 365 and open a new e-mail.
I attach all 3 pdfs above.
I click on "Preview" for each of the 3 pdfs.
The results are the 3 screenshots I attached herein.
From what it can be observed, the Example PDF-XChange.pdf has some issues with the font being previewed by Outlook (maybe also other issues).

Hi Bogdan,
We were not able to reproduce this issue - could you please test it on a different machine and see if you get the same results?

Re: Outlook 365 pdf viewer issues of converted PDF
Hi Sean,
Thanks for the reply.
I have managed to get to my second PC. And the issue is the same.
Please find attached the converted PDF and screenshot with the Outlook preview issue from my second PC.
I forgot to mention that I use the new Outlook, as Outlook classic has been discontinued by Microsoft.
Also, the issue is reproduced using Outlook Online via Google Chrome browser on my both PC's.
The Microsoft products are licensed via "Microsoft 365 Business Standard" monthly subscription.
Edit: I am also available for TeamViewer if that helps.

Re: Outlook 365 pdf viewer issues of converted PDF
Hi Sean,
I have completed the procedure of de-registering and then registering all shell extensions, followed by a PC reboot.
The issue is still there.
I might also add that if I save the converted PDF in PDF/A format, then the issue is gone.

Re: Outlook 365 pdf viewer issues of converted PDF
Hello, Bogdan T
Converting to PDF/A would forcibly embed the fonts, so the lack of doing so with the initial fonts could be part of the issue - perhaps Acrobat and Foxit are always embedding, while we do not always do so.
Since we have your original and output files, as well as screenshots of what you are seeing, I have raised this with the dev team for further review and hopefully a swift resolution.
[edit] - It seems this issue does indeed come about from a lack of font embedding in the process, so the following feature request was created to address it.
RT#7788: FR: Add option to embed all fonts for all our Office2PDf convertors

Re: Outlook 365 pdf viewer issues of converted PDF
Dear Daniel,
Thank you for your update.
Is there any public record where we can track this feature request and its implementation?
I have noticed there is a number (RT#7788), I have searched the forum with it and I couldn't find it.
In our business, we mainly send PDF documents converted from Word documents to public authorities. The risk of a PDF file not looking the same way we view it by the public authorities where we send those PDF files is important for us.
I do not know if it is important for this topic, but we convert the word documents via right click -> 'Open in PDF-XChange Editor'.
Kind regards,

Hello, Bogdan T
All tickets and their progress are internal only - you need only keep that number on hand, so you can ask any member of our support team about it later on if necessary.
Unfortunately we do have a very small team, and so I cannot currently promise a swift implementation for any items.
In the meantime, the best workaround I can suggest is to print from Word to our Standard or Lite printer, which offer the option to "embed" all used fonts in their print preferences.
