[Bug] Annotation rendering issues after exporting XFDF with Chinese comments

Post by AlexShyXie »

I am encountering a rendering issue when working with XFDF files exported from PDF-XChange.

1. Add comments to the annotations.

2. Export annotations to XFDF.
No problem in this step

3. Modify comments containing Chinese characters to the annotations. The annotation rendering becomes distorted. Specifically, highlights appear as “zebra stripes” (striped lines), and the thickness of underlines becomes irregular and strange. I attempted to resolve the display issue by zooming the view, but the problem persists. This seems to be related to the handling of Chinese characters in the comments.

Hello, AlexShyXie

I cannot seem to reproduce this issue in the current latest release. Could I ask you first to update the software, then try this process from the start and confirm if it still occurs?

If it does, please include a copy of a file where this has already happened, and the plain text characters you have inserted in your forum post, so I can copy/paste them here and hopefully reproduce the effect.

Kind regards,

Is anyone following up on this issue? Has anyone managed to reproduce it?

Hi,

I updated to the latest version, but I can still reproduce this issue very easily in VMware.

Steps to reproduce:

1、Add comments to the annotations in ‘Lung cancer has been top’.

2、Export annotations to XFDF (Export comments to Data file).

3、Edit the comment by inserting/replacing text with Chinese words like “谢谢” or “你好”.

Key point: It triggers almost every time I edit an annotation with Chinese or Japanese immediately after the XFDF export.

As requested, I have attached the exported XFDF file and the plain text characters here: “谢谢”, “你好”, ごじゅうおんず.

Best regards
