[Deskew Pages] Blurry image

Post by gauthierDC »

Hi,
The deskew command works well to fix the orientation of my scanned document, but it makes the quality worse.

Before:
image.png
image(2).png
After:
image(1).png
image(3).png
When I zoom in on the document, the quality becomes better.
Before:
image(4).png
image(6).png
After:
image(5).png
image(7).png
I got the same result when I opened the document with a different PDF viewer.
Do you know where that comes from and how to fix it?

Hello, gauthierDC

This is unfortunately an unavoidable aspect of the digital medium. When you take an image which is pixel based (a perfect grid) is expected for display. Deskewing inherently will cause those pixels to misalign, requiring either recompression (what our deskew function does), or antialiasing (what happens when you manually rotate the image a small amount) to be applied in the process.
Both will caused added fuzzyness and color bleed in order to preserve/display the content as best as possible.
