Carrying over Windows Taskbar Jump List information after PDF-XCE update

Post by rakunavi »

=== UPDATE ===================================================================
The issue reported below has been resolved in Ver 10.8.2 build 407.
I appreciate all the hard work and efforts of the support and development team.
==============================================================================

Hello all,

If PDF-XChange Editor is pinned to Windows taskbar, it is unpinned after an update and all information on the Jump List, such as pinned items and recent items, is lost. In other applications, Jump List information is generally not lost after an update, so I hope that the information will be carried over in PDF-XChange Editor as well, through an update program or other improvement.

Incidentally, you can manually restore the Jump List information for PDF-XChange Editor by backing up the following file before the update. After updating and pinning to taskbar, overwrite the file.

  • %UserProfile%\Recent\AutomaticDestinations\dfe3790e91d3a22f.automaticDestinations-ms

Re: Carrying over Windows Taskbar Jump List information after PDF-XCE update  SOLVED

Post by Daniel - PDF-XChange »

Hello, rakunavi

I am just awaiting a reply from the dev team to confirm this, but if my memory serves, I believe the issue here is that our installers do not actually have access to this area, and so it is not our choice if we would like to retain or remove these items. Once I have confirmation on that I will be back to let you know.

Kind regards,

Hello Daniel, thank you for contacting developers.

I have confirmed that, starting with PDF-XChange Editor installer Version 10.8.2 build 407, the Windows Taskbar Jump List information is now carried over.

To ensure reliability, I performed consecutive updates on multiple builds around build 407 on a virtual machine running the latest version of Windows 11, while keeping all system settings other than the installer identical. Therefore, it is highly likely that this improvement is due to the changes you made to the installer.

Just for your information.

Best regards,
rakunavi
