Hello Forum and PXE Team,
The new AI Assistant (document summarization, sidebar chat) in version 11 is an awesome addition and brings interaction with PDFs to a new level.
Currently, it seems that the language the AI uses for its output and chat responses is tied to the selected User Interface language of the Editor. However, I prefer to run my UI in English, but I'd typically need AI summaries and chat interactions to be in German, depending on the document or workflow.
Feature Request:
Please allow users to set the AI Assistant's language independently from the UI language.
Ideally, this could be implemented in two ways:
1. A default "AI Output Language" setting in the main Preferences.
2. A quick-select dropdown menu directly inside the AI Chat sidebar to switch the language on the fly.
Decoupling the AI language from the UI language would make this new tool even more versatile for multilingual users.
Thanks for considering, and keep up the great work!
Best regards,
David.P

Re: [Feature Request] Independent language setting for the new v11 AI Assistant
Hello, David.P
In my testing, the language is defined by your prompts - we do not transmit any settings details to the models. If I initially open a file and ask it to "summarize the file" but in spanish "resumir el documento", I get the full summary in Spanish, despite both the file and my UI being in English.
[Edit] Ive just heard back from the Dev team on this:
Kind regards,

In short, if you click the prompt buttons that appear in the AI panel, those should be in your UI language. Otherwise, the AI will try to respond in the same language which you wrote the question in.for ready-to-use prompts we force AI to answer in UI language. While in free chat mode we instructs AI to answer in user-request's language

Re: [Feature Request] Independent language setting for the new v11 AI Assistant
Thank you Daniel for the quick reply and for getting the input from the Dev Team. However, it seems that the entire AI Assistant pane remains in English independent on the user interface language (which is set to German in this case)?
On the other hand, the answer is provided in German, so it's probably only a matter of the user interface translation not being finished.

Hello, David.P
Yes, that is expected at the moment, as above:
Alternatively, you cam simply type out your own prompts in any language, and the AI model should try to reply in kind.
Kind regards,

Even though the "ready to use" prompts are presented in English (as you surmised, because we do not yet have translations for them) the request is sent with a note to provide feedback in your selected UI language.Daniel - PDF-XChange wrote: ↑Thu May 14, 2026 5:34 pm [Edit] Ive just heard back from the Dev team on this:
