Hello, as Obsidian explains, the file://C:\filename.pdf link opens that pdf to the default program on your PC. Also, file:///C:\filename.pdf#page=5 opens page 5 of that file.
By the way, in my case, file://C:\filename.pdf works well and opens the pdf file well in PDF-Xchange. By the way, when I run file://C:\filename.pdf#page=5, I get an error saying file:///C:\filename.pdf#page=5#page=5. This might be an issue with the audiander, but I think it might be because PDF-Xchange has a different command way to open a specific page.
In other words, PDF-Xchange does not support using #page=5 for a particular page, as in file://C:\filename.pdf#page=5 by default? Because the description in Xchange is PDFXEdit.exe /A page=5 "c:\example.pdf".
Did I get it right?

Hello titeuf,
As announced in this post, the following custom URIs are now supported. You can set page numbers, named destinations, etc. In Obsidian, you should be able to set URLs starting with "pxce:" as valid external links and launch PDF-XChange Editor by clicking on them.

Hello titeuf, thank you for your feedback.
You might want to try enclosing the external link in < > tags.
If you enclose the external link in < > tags as shown below, the file should open properly even if the file path contains spaces, etc.

- Before: [Open PDF file](pxce:file:///C:/Users/user/Documents/sample.pdf#page=10)
- After: [Open PDF file](<pxce:file:///C:/Users/user/Documents/sample.pdf#page=10>)

Thank you for your answer. But as you said, the same thing happens even if you add <>.
I think I might be using the portable version to launch this program on Windows. The basic app for pdf is PDF Xchange. Is there any other solution?

Hello titeuf, thank you for your feedback.
If you're using the portable version of PDF-XChange Editor, it's only natural that the links won't work since you can't register the PXCE URI scheme. At the very least, you'll need to use the installed version of PDF-XChange Editor.
Best regards,
rakunavi

Is there a way to modify the registry in Windows 11 so that the above link is connected on portable? Thanks in advance.

Hello titeuf, thank you for your feedback.
Since Windows doesn’t prohibit this, you should be able to get it to work by manually editing the registry and registering the path to the portable version’s executable file. However, this might compromise the portability that defines the portable version.
Given that this forum is open to the general public, I can’t really post anything too irresponsible, so I recommend asking an AI for detailed instructions.
Best regards,
