new docs - same opened window

Is there a way to force the program to open all new documents
in the same window that is already open?

Hi,

To open documents in the same window, in PDF-XChange Editor:
- click the File-menu > Preferences > General, and click Setup... (button at the right, in the zone "Tabs and Windows"),
- next, in the "Manage Tabs and Windows"-dialog-box, make sure that the first two check-boxes are turned off.

I didn't explain myself well.
What I really meant was to open the new documents in the same window.
When I open documents from the historic, they open in the same opened window.
When I open them through Explorer (let's say), they create a new window (or instance).

I do not have that same experience (when using the indicated settings here above in my previous post).

Double-clicking PDF-documents in Windows File Explorer opens them in (the already open window of) PDF-XChange Editor.

Are you sure that it is PDF-XChange Editor that starts when you double-click a PDF in Windows File Explorer ?
If yes, then can you tell us which version of PDF-XChange Editor you currently have ? See the Help-ribbon > About.
If I remember correctly, there has been a version/build that did not work correctly in that matter.
If not, then please set PDF-XChange Editor as your default application for opening PDF-files.

Hello,

It is also possible, if you are under a larger organization, that your IT administrator has configured and override for this, which needs to be addressed on their end.
While it does not appear that you are from the same organization as the posters here, it is very much possible they have mistakenly made the same change: viewtopic.php?p=199661#p199661

If this does not help, checking the items Willy asked for above will be very helpful! (though Willy's suggestion might be easier/faster to try first anyway)
