Converting to PDFs loses pairs of brackets

Post by longnh »

Hello everyone, I'm using PDF-Xchange 10.8.5 PDF-Tools to convert DOCX to PDF, but I've encountered an issue that is described as below:
  • A pair of brackets in MathType formula (shortcut: Ctrl+() will disappear after converting to PDF
  • The bracket that is typed by keyboard key is retained
  • I've checked that all the necessary fonts are installed
  • This issue doesn't appear with PDF-XChange Office2PDF
  • This issue doesn't appear with Adobe Acrobat
Please tell me how to fix this. Thank you so much!

Hello, longnh

Could I possibly request a copy of the problematic Word document, and the resultant output, from both our software and acrobat (for comparison).

Kind regards,

Thank you for your reply. Here I attached the ZIP file that includes:
  • DOCX file
  • PDF file created by Acrobat
  • PDF file created by PDF-Xchange PDF Tools (the one with error)
  • PDF file created by PDF-XChange Office2PDF

Hello longnh,

I tried to reproduce the issue with your sample document, but I was unable to do so.

Could you also provide the tool you are running, please? You can export it by right-clicking the tool and choosing the Export Selected Tools menu option.

One thing I noticed is that when I try to edit the formulas in MS Word, it warns me that the formula format is obsolete and suggests converting it to the new format.

Let’s take a look at the second formula:

After conversion, its appearance changes to this:

This appearance is closer to the one shown in Acrobat and PDF-XChange Office2PDF:

Would you consider updating the obsolete formula format?

In any case, as I mentioned, I could not reproduce the issue on my side. The difference in appearance is caused by the required font not being embedded in the provided result document.

Best regards,
