PDF Dynamic Stamps Displaying Wrong Name

Hi there,

I have created a dynamic stamp with my name, the date and time using the create custom stamp process. The name field is built from the Identity -> Name option which is correctly set up for each user under File -> Preferences -> Identity.

I have shared this stamp with my colleagues who also need to have access to this stamp. When they preview the stamp in their stamp palette, it comes up with my name, and not theirs. However, when they use the stamp on their document, the name on the stamp is their name.

Is there any way for the dynamic stamp in the stamp palette to show the correct person's name?

Provided the Stamp document is not in use elsewhere, the page icon in the palette should be updated after use, to reflect the last used name/details. It may sometimes need an application restart.

I think each time PXCE is restarted it will default to showing whatever is saved with the stamp file. You could copy your stamp and edit the stamp file directly: put something more anonymous like "Name" in the name field. Then share that pdf.

The stamp palette does not update before or after use to the user's identity name. Even before and after restarting PDF-XChange this did not make a difference. The stamp name was correct when used, but not when included in the palette.

At this stage, Matthew's suggestion seems to be the appropriate work around when creating the dynamic stamp.

thanks for the suggestion, I changed my identity to "Name" and then created the stamp, which leaves my colleagues with a stamp in their palette saying "Name", but at least it's no longer my name!

until I changed my profile back to my name, and then everyone's previews now magically say my name again!

How are you sharing the stamp file with others? It sounds like everyone is referring to the exact same file.

1. If everyone is using the same network folder for stamps, then I suspect there's no way around this

2. However, if you all have your own stamps folder saved in
   %APPDATA%\PDF-XChange\PDF Editor\Stamps (for v11 onwards)
   or %APPDATA%\Tracker Software\PDFXEditor\3.0\Stamps (before v11)
   
   By default stamp collection files have strange names such as "78e20d68-de61-4164-932cb3b6c85b90c0.pdf" but you can change the name so long as PDF-XChange is not running at that time. Each file is a stamp collection. Copy the one with the collection you want to share, and have the people you are sharing it with copy to their Stamps folder. If you edit that file directly, you can change what's shown in the field before the stamp is first used:
