Import Settings after Update Version 10 to 11

Hi everyone,

I had created various custom settings and dynamic stamps (including JavaScript) for my XChange Viewer. However, after the full update, none of my custom settings were carried over.

What is the easiest way to import the XChange settings from the previous version?

most settings should have carried over, for JS and Stamps specifically, you simply need to move them from the old folder to the new one manually, and they should appear without issue.

The old paths were:

%appdata%\Tracker Software\PDFXEditor\3.0

Locate the Javascripts and Stamps folders in those locations, and move them to the new folders of the same path, respectively either of:

"Technically" speaking yes, but in a roundabout way that is unsupported and not advisable. The connection to a cloud service often renders it difficult, to reliably write changes made to these files. In turn, some features like stamp editing and creation, as well as the preview updates, may not work properly.

In practice, you need only use your respective cloud app, and flag the folders mentioned above as synced in that service. Nothing needs to be configured on our end outside of normal - but again, it is not recommended, and if you do encounter issues with this configuration, we may be unable to assist with troubleshooting.

I can accept there are technical issues above my paygrade that I don't want to get into.

But my issue is that I really need a portfolio (and only one portfolio) of Stamps that I know I can access regardless of which PC I am using. It is great that I can save settings (as they evolve in my use) from one machine and quickly get them working on another machine, having saved the in a cloud folder. I would just like to do the same with Stamps.

As it is now, my Stamps are a mess because they are machine-specific. If I create a Stamp on one machine and forget that I did that, I won't be able to access it on another machine. I suppose I have to create a script that simplifies copying the obscure folder on the source PC and then saving it to a cloud file and another script to copy the cloud folder of Stamps and pasting that into the obscure folder on the destination PC.

I am not even sure how to use the new V.11.01 capability of merging Stamp folders in the context of my needs.

In that case, So long as you remember how to turn it off from your cloud service later, you could likely just connect the Stamp folders as they are, and have it begin replicating. There might be a delay between the devices, and you would need to restart the software to have any changes made on the other machine, reflect on the currentpalette, but so long as it is not modifying the PDF documents in any way, it should work.

Alas, I cannot help with the specifics here, as it is all on the capabilities of your cloud service.
