I would like to request a feature improvement regarding how tooltips and pop-up notes behave, especially on touch-screen devices.

In Adobe Acrobat, when you tap a comment that has a pop-up note attached, the note temporarily appears. It then automatically disappears when you tap the background or another comment. In PDF-XChange Editor, however, this specific interaction does not seem possible.

This Acrobat behavior is extremely useful when using PDFs as a self-study or memorization tool. For example, imagine a user hiding a keyword they want to memorize using one of the following methods, while also embedding that exact keyword into the comment's pop-up note:

• A Highlight Area tool with the Blend Mode set to Normal
• A Rectangle comment with a solid fill color

When using a mouse, users can simply hover the cursor over the hidden area to see the keyword via a tooltip. However, textbooks and study materials are frequently used on tablets without a mouse. On touch screens, "hovering" is physically impossible, meaning tooltips cannot be triggered this way. Therefore, there is a strong need to temporarily check the content of a pop-up note via touch inputs without having to manually open and then close it every time.

Currently, PDF-XChange Editor does automatically scroll to and highlight the corresponding item in the Comments Pane when a comment is tapped. While this allows us to see the text, it also inadvertently exposes the surrounding comments and their texts. For memorization purposes, this makes the Comments Pane workaround impractical, as it spoils the answers to other questions.

My request does not strictly require the exact same pop-up note behavior as Acrobat. The main goal is simply to have a way to view tooltips via touch operations. Regardless of the memorization use case, enabling tooltip retrieval via touch would be a highly welcomed feature for all touchscreen device users.

To better illustrate this difference, I have recorded a short video comparing the behavior between PDF-XChange Editor and Acrobat Reader, using a sample PDF document that contains 7 Highlight Area comments.

The demonstration in the video is very simple:
I sequentially tap each of the 7 comments one by one, and finally, I tap the document background. In total, I perform 8 taps in each application.

Please see the attached video to notice how Acrobat smoothly reveals and hides the notes with each tap, whereas PDF-XChange Editor does not trigger the pop-ups.
