Problems Scanning from PDF Xchange

Post by SarnXero »

I recently got a promotion at work and am now in a new office with a new PC. Getting everything setup on this new PC has been a real hassle. I can not seem to get my Print/Fax/Scan to Scan from within PDF Xchange like I was used to. I get an error saying it cant communicate. I can use the brother iprint scanner software to scan to my PC though. It is clunky to use tho and I want to be able to use PDF Xchange.
This PC came with multiple Printer Drivers installed for the same printer so it is listed multiple times. I have problems printing to our big Toshiba copier too. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't
I cant make changes or install things without getting our IT on the line to type the admin password so I'd like to try and track down the issue first before having to sit on the phone when them forever.

Hello, SarnXero

Regarding the Scanner connection issue. Can you open MS Paint, and try initiating a scan to the same device there? Do you experience any issues with that process?
If yes, the issue is likely with the scanner drivers, and you will need to ask your IT team to first clean up (and remove unnecessary) drivers on your device, then restart the device, and install the device specific drivers for your scanner, from the manufacturers website - this should resolve the issue.

As for the printing error. Since this is intermittent, that would most likely indicate a network failure, or an error in the printer itself, when sending data to a network printer, we rely heavily on windows itself to establish the connection, if the printer is offline, unavailable, or too busy to reply - windows will time out and present us with an error on your printing attempt. The fat that it does work sometimes leans more towards it being a network specific issue - perhaps your device is on an unstable wifi connection? Or the issue occurs when switching connection points.
(If this latter issue ends up being the case for the printer, it could also be the root cause of the scanner problems you mentioned at the start.)
