Rendering artifact: Dropdown list remains on screen after changing pages (Single Page Mode)

Post by rakunavi »

Hello all,

I have encountered a rendering layout issue where a dropdown list's visual remnants remain on the screen when navigating between pages under specific conditions.

(Note: While the issue occurs with any page navigation method—such as using the mouse wheel or the toolbar arrows—the attached video demonstrates it by dragging the main vertical scrollbar for clarity).

Steps to Reproduce:
[Pattern A: Default Scroll Position]
  1. Open the attached sample PDF in Single Page (Non-continuous) and Fit Page layout mode.
  2. Click to open the dropdown list on the first page. (The list has enough items to display its own vertical scrollbar).
  3. Move the mouse cursor outside the dropdown field area, and drag the document's main vertical scrollbar to move to the second page.
  4. Result: Visual remnants of the dropdown list remain floating on the second page.

[Pattern B: Scrolled Down Position]
  1. Return to the first page.
  2. Open the dropdown list again, and scroll the dropdown list's internal scrollbar all the way to the bottom.
  3. Drag the document's main vertical scrollbar to move to the second page again.
  4. Result: A different visual artifact appears on the second page—only the outer frame of the list is displayed, and the items inside are completely empty.

I have attached a sample PDF file and a video demonstrating the issue.

Expected Result:
The dropdown list should not leave any visual remnants, ghosting, or empty frames on the screen when navigating to a different page in Single Page mode.

Note 1: As shown in the latter half of the video presented above, Adobe Acrobat Reader does not leave any visual remnants on the screen when the page changes.

Note 2: Even with PDF-XChange Editor, you won't encounter any problems as long as you reduce the number of list items to the point where the vertical scroll bar in the drop-down list does not appear.

Hoping that the above information will be of some help to you.
Thank you for your hard work on this great software.

Best regards,
rakunavi
