Dokument requires a minimum of 6 characters

Hi,

I'm on PDF-XChange Editor version 10.0.1.371 (Windows). When setting a document password under Security → Document Security, my installation requires a minimum of 6 characters — even with the lowest encryption level selected.

The odd part: colleagues running the exact same version (10.0.1.371) only need 5 characters on their machines. So this doesn't seem to be a version-specific change, but something environment/machine-specific.

Questions:

Could this be caused by a Windows-level setting (e.g. FIPS-compliant algorithms policy) or a Group Policy affecting how PDF-XChange enforces password length?
Is there an application setting or registry key that controls this minimum, so I could compare it with a colleague's machine?
Has anyone else seen this kind of per-machine discrepancy?

Any pointers on what to check would be appreciated.

I do not recall the exact version, but the minimum password length you can set on a file did increase from 4 to 6 characters (if a document was protected before this change and only has 4 characters, you can sitll open it in the current release, but will not be able to replace the password to anything below 6 characters.

This has come up a few times, and is highly unlikely to change at this time, but I will add your voice to the existing tracking item.
