Bookmarks generation Option Suggestion I Just Thought of -- A good one -- Limit to One Per Page

Post by nickelelr »

Limit generated bookmarks to one per page could be a checkbox in the Generate bookmarks from Page Text dialog, along with possibly other autobookmarks functions where it would make sense.

For example, if I'm bookmarking an encyclopedia, I often find it would be neat to bookmark the first Bolded Headword on a page.

But not every single one. As it leads to, in the example of an encyclopedia where all the Bolded Headwords have the same font information --a million bookmark entries, which is more than most mortals find useful as a desk reference.

It could even be restricted to one, or a number "y", per "x" pages of choice -- say if we told it to grab the first three pieces of text that fulfills the chosen font settings PER twenty pages, or whatever. The second item here can be accomplished, of course, through repeated tasks and the specification of page ranges, but this would be a neat, specifically useful in its own way, and streamlined way to do this in many cases.

(Obviously one can generate and then delete given existing functions, or use the formatted data input to write the bookmarks, given existing functions. But I believe what I suggest here has its own value and utility as something that might be added.)

A suggestion for your pleasant considerations.
