Secondary printer?

Hello,

PDF XChange Editor creates "PDF X-Change Lite" printer, which is good.

Is there a way to duplicate the printer to e.g. "Pdf-2" so that I could have "PDF X-Change Lite" asking me for the PDF file name to save, and to have "Pdf-2" set so that the PDF file is saved automatically to a preset directory without prompting me for the file name?

- So the goal is to have two PDF X-Change based printers where one prompts for file name on print, whilst the other doesn't (saves automatically)?

With the Standard printer you can do so by following the steps here.

I cannot recall if the lite printer has the same capability, but you can certainly give it a try with the same process (just adjust the file path in step 1)

But I can't apply the steps as there is no "pdfSaver5.exe" in the PDF XChange installation directory.

Please follow the instructions for PDF-XChange Standard V7+ in the aricle linked above, as opposed the the PDF-XChange Standard 2012 options.

I don't have any "pdfSaver.exe", as mentioned in the link herebellow.

I have this – see the screen:

I ran:

Code: Select all

c:\Program Files\PDF-XChange\PDF Printer Lite>pdfSaverL.exe /AddPrinter Test~

c:\Program Files\PDF-XChange\PDF Printer Lite>

but it created no new printer.

So – ?

Unfortunately that would mean the Lite printer indeed does not have this capability. My apologies - but in this scenario, you would need to upgrade to a license which includes the standard printer (The PDF-Xchange PRO bundle), or alternatively consider purchasing a separate "Standard Printer" license.

That clears it up the Lite printer simply doesn't support adding a second printer this way. The Standard Printer would be needed for that setup.

... Well, it seems that creating a secondary is possible: create a new printer, sequentially set to use the same port and driver as the primary Lite printer does, set prefs to the new printer (page sizes, save-to directory etc) and that's it!
