Registry entries

Post by DarrenS »

Hello

We force deployed Editor V10 thru intune and group membership.

I need to upgrade to V11 and want to layout the path for the future upgrades.

I would like to know what can be set in the registry as a script that runs after the install?
So things like - not checking for updates as users have no admin access, setting the serial number, company and so for, hiding the key info in the gui, these sorts of things.

Is there definitive documentation for this, please?

Thanks in advance

Hi Darren,

I'd advise taking a look through the sys admin manual—all relevant information is there:

Thanks for the link.

I am already aware the root location for the keys (and acknowledge it has updated in V11) , but i cant find what keys are available.
I'm looking for a list of registry keys to see if we can fully control the software, or whether an ADM policy applied thru Intune the way to go?

IT may be a combination of both I don't know but until I see what options there are then I cant readily decide the way forward.

THanks

Hi Darren.

Here is the link to the zip with Group Policy ADMX/ADML files for our products:

https://www.pdf-xchange.com/knowledgeba ... -ADMX-file
not checking for updates as users have no admin access
Local Group Policy Editor > Admin Templates > PDF-XChange: Editor > Update > Allow User to Check for Updates - via this policy you may disable and hide the 'Check For Updates' feature in 'PDF-XChange Editor' product.
Local Group Policy Editor > Admin Templates > PDF-XChange: Updater > General > Disabled - via this policy, you may disable the ' PDF-XChange Updater ' utility completely.
hiding the key info in the gui
Local Group Policy Editor > Admin Templates > PDF-XChange: Editor > Preferences > Prefs Page Access set to "Registration:0" - it removes the whole 'Registration' page from the Editor Preferences dlg.
setting the serial number, company and so for
- to set/add/remove the serial number(s) you need to use our XCVault utility on user's machine.
- to set the company info, you need to write some data here:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PDF-XChange\PDFEditor\Settings\Identity]
"t.Corporation"="OrganizationName"
"t.Department"="OrganizationUnit"

- additionally, you may remove the 'Identity' page from the Editor prefs to prevent the user from changing this data, by setting "Registration:0|Identity:0" to the Local Group Policy Editor > Admin Templates > PDF-XChange: Editor > Preferences > Prefs Page Access
