Feature request: Allow dragging selected text from PDF-XChange Editor into other applications

Hello!

I was wondering whether I am missing a setting somewhere in PDF-XChange Editor.

When I select text in a PDF, either base-content text or text inside a comment, and then try to drag the selected text somewhere else, PDF-XChange seems to just start a new text selection instead.

In many other editors, once text is selected, you can click and drag that selection into another application.

Is there perhaps an option somewhere that enables this in PDF-XChange Editor?

Ideally I would like to be able to do this with both:

* selected base-content text
* selected text inside comments / annotations

The reason I noticed this is that in the text-expander / phrase manager I am developing, you can simply drag text or images directly into a phrase tile to save them.

So, for example, it would be very convenient to:

Select text in PDF-XChange Editor
→ drag it directly into a PhraseStow tile
→ save it as a reusable phrase

rather than having to use Ctrl+C, switch applications, select the destination, and then Ctrl+V.

The same would also be useful when dragging selected text from PDF-XChange into other applications in general, not only for my particular use case.

I was actually a little surprised that dragging a selected piece of text seems to start another selection instead, so perhaps there is already some hidden setting or modifier key for this that I have simply not found?

If not, would supporting drag-and-drop of selected text out of PDF-XChange Editor be something you would consider?

I'm afraid that is not currently possible in PDF-XChange Editor. I believe the standard procedure, as you indicated, is simply to use Ctrl+C, switch applications, and then Ctrl+V. This feature request is unlikely to gain traction with the development team as it's quite niche, has never been requested previously, and is quite simple to do with keyboard shortcuts.

Well thats the thing, even though you get this red "error" cursor, it actually DOES work. from my textexpander program, the issue is just that it appears in the middle of the page!, instead of to the cursor position.

So I beg you to implement another settings toggle which is for drag and drop to work to position. at least INTO the PDF-editor. I understand if it is difficult to allow for drag and drop OUT OF the PDF-editor...

I have been able to do it from other programs as well, like libreoffice and browsers like firefox... but not always.

Interesting...I dont believe we can do Mouse position during content paste like this, since we do not know the mouse position when the software is not in focus, and the paste action is what acquires that focus (in effect, during the action, there is no mouse data to use).
I am unsure what we can do about that, but will check with the Dev team. I do expect, trying to track mouse position while not in focus could trip some security suites... and we would like to avoid those kinds of false positives..
