Can't permanently hide toolbars

Hello,

I have tried customising the Toolbars to hid the ones I don't want to use - so that I can have everything I do want on the same line. As it happens, I have the Toolbars on the same line as the menus, to get as much space as possible.

The problem is that every time I close and reopen, the Toolbars that I have hidden reappear.

Is there a solution to this?

It is very uncharacteristic behaviour for any program I have used. I would say that, if you customise the appearance once, that should be it.

Sorry a little more information on this as I messed up my way of replicating it.

When I closed the program and reopened normally, it kept the toolbar customisation (the hidden toolbars remained hidden).

However, when I went to Full Screen (F12) and back again, the hidden toolbars reappeared, and I had to manually close them. The best I can do is to bring them down to the right of the document, so that they don't got up to the top and jumble up what I already have. That makes closing them easier, but it is not ideal.

Ỳou can use the customise feature to assign a shortcut to your own custom toolbar. I find that works best as I can easily show/hide it fullscreen mode too.

Shortcut F8 will show/hide all toolbars, then Shift F (in my case) will show hide my custom toolbar.

I didn't yet find a way to prevent Escape from showing all the toolbars when I exit from fullscreen mode.

Brilliant - but how do you set the shortcut to open a toolbar?

I can set the shortcut for a given function, and can create & fill up a custom toolbar, but I can't see any option for assigning a shortcut to open the toolbar.

• Open the Customise dialogue
• Open the View menu from the menu bar
• Open the Toolbars submenu
• Right-click on your custom toolbar
• Select Properties
• In the dialogue that opens you can set the shortcut for the toolbar

Thanks - for some reason that I don't understand, I was not able to see custom toolbars in the "View", "Toolbars" submenu, so was not able to assign a shortcut to it.

Instead I copied all the buttons from the custom toolbar to the "standard" toolbar, which I was able to assign a shortcut to.

Perhaps you haven't created a custom toolbar, just customised the existing ones?

It was definitely a new (custom) toolbar, created through Right click, Customize, Toolbar tab, New.

I can't explain why it does not show up in the View, Toolbars sub-menu. In any case, the workaround (customising an existing toolbar, which I can allocate a shortcut to) is working fine - I am very happy with it.

It is a very good sign for the Viewer that you can use something (Acrobat) for years and, with just an hour or two getting used to it, transition to the Viewer and find it more efficient and user-friendly.
