Change of focus after searching

Post by msbentley »

Just a quick question/suggestion: I'm using ctrl-F to switch to the search box and locate something in a PDF. I would like to be able to exit the search box and switch the focus back to the document, e.g. by pressing Escape, so that I can navigate via the keyboard (PgUp etc.). Is there currently a way of doing this? If not, I think it would be a very welcome addition.

Maybe Escape is a bad choice because I would like to be able to do this without leaving full-screen mode, for example...

Alter F4 will close the Find dialogue and return focus to the page.

Thanks for your reply! I'm clearly being a bit slow today... When you say "Alter F4" do you mean "Alt F4" or something different? At the moment this simply closes the whole viewer...

I do indeed mean Alt F4 or Alter F4. If focus is in the search field it closes the search field. If not, it closes the viewer. Alt F4 is the Windows default shortcut for "Close Window."

Thanks - I've realised the problem now. I have the search toolbar docked at the top of the viewer, so Alt-F4 always closes the entire program. It works as you describe if the search bar is not visible, such that it opens as a separate floating toolbar when you hit ctrl-F. Hence Alt-F4 simply closes this toolbar.

I can live with that - 99% of the time I jump to search with ctrl-F anyway, rather than clicking the search box on-screen!
