Hello,
I wonder if anyone knows the way round this.
I'm opening a bunch of PDFs from emails, then saving them with the file name based on the contents - i.e. I need to actually see what is in the file before I save it, so I can't just save from email.
The problem is that every time I "Save As" (CTRL+SHIFT+S) the file location goes back to My Documents, not the directory I'm saving them into. I would have expected that the save-to directory would have stayed the same for as long as I kept the Viewer open, but it does not work like that.
Is there a way of either specifying the directory for saving to or - better still - setting it to keep saving in the "current" directory (the one most recently used). This second approach is what Acrobat uses - as it is pretty routine for me to have to save PDFs like this, I have got used to it.
Thanks
Save As file location

Hi Bhikkhu,
I've tried it - it doesn't seem to make any difference for this issue.

Re: Save As file location
I seem to have misunderstood the purpose of that setting. Perhaps it refers to the destination when downloading content from links in PDF files.
What does seem to work is to use the Opera browser plugin and save the file from the browser's File menu. Opera remembers the last used folder. I guess the same method should work with Firefox or Internet Explorer.
To use the PDF-XChange Viewer plugin, in Preferences, File Associations, check Display PDF in Browser.
In Opera downloads, edit the MIME file type for application/pdf to use the plugin.

Re: Save As file location
I don't have an issue with saving from the internet - the issue is specifically that I receive a bunch of PDF attachments which I open (from Outlook) to the Viewer. I then save those PDFs to a specific directory.
Using Acrobat, when I save the first file I have to put it in the right directory. Thereafter the "Save As" directory is whichever directory I saved the first file to - as though Acrobat treats that as my working directory.
With the Viewer, the directory is always "My Documents", meaning I have to go through the same process of selecting the correct directory with each separate attachment.
It is sufficiently time consuming that, when dealing with one of those emails (with lots of PDF attachments) it makes sense for me to change back to Acrobat as my default for PDFs, and then change back to the Viewer afterwards, but I was hoping for a way round it.

Re: Save As file location
In the next build(v40) a new option - 'Save As' ('to Original Folder') will be added.
By default this option will mean 'True'.
You will be able to change this option to 'False' as needed.
Hope that helps
