[REQUEST] Save Sessions

Post by Wamma »

Hello!

It would be nice to be able to save the currently open pdf windows, so one can continue later with exact the same files open.
Similar to the Session feature in Opera

Kind regards

This may be a bit different than what you hoped for:

If you double click on a file you've previously were viewing, PDF Viewer will open to the page you left at, i.e., if you were reading a 50 page document and closed on page 25, if you double click on the file it would open at page 25.

If you use the plugin for Opera, then any open PDF files will be part of your Opera session. Only the plugin won't remember your place in each file. A search of this forum for "session" would have found this solution. The request has been made before.

this is a must feature!
At the moment I have to use screenshots of tabs or filelist, so that I know which files were open in case I need to update, or restart windows or if program crashes.

And yes, this was discussed already, and yes, opera will work, but it's not a good solution for many reasons, takes valuable real estate, doesn't remember last view page, ...

I mean, for the beginning no need to save sessions, just like in opera "continue from last time" would be more than enough

I don't use use pdf plugins for browsers. I prefer to read the pdfs separately.
I totally agree with quant. Continue from last time would be sufficient.

Will add this feature. Hopefully in build 38 it will be introduced.

Thanks

noted, but I must say I'm slightly disappointed as this was "hoped" to be introduced to v38, and now it's v40 and it's still few months to go ... was so happy that finally some pdf reader had tabs, ... but then it's like waiting for the kettle to boil for the "open the files from last session" feature, which seems to me the very first and natural feature to be expected in the application with tabs.

... but in the same breath I have to say that for example the commenting features had been developed to (almost) perfection. Excellent! ;-)

Feature suggestion: session manager

I often open groups of PDF files at the same time. It would be nice to be able to save these groups in some sort of "session" tool and then open them all in the same order at a later time.

Mod Stefan: Merged this post to the topic.

version 2.410234091591873198237 ... and still not able to re-open closed tabs :(

ps:
this doesn't seem to work:
"Added 'notification' during programm 'close down' when more then one tab is open."

+1 vote for this important feature -- where you can leave lots of open pdf "lying around on your table" (=PDF-XChange Viewer) -- and get back the exact same PDF's and the same open pages after a computer restart on the other day (or two weeks later)!

Indispensable e.g. for a patent attorney with a paperless office!

And please make the tabs and/or file thumbnails re-arrangable.

Thanks as always for this amazing piece of software,

Cheers David.P

Another vote for "save sessions" as most desired next feature.
