More options for full screen.

Post by helvib »

Hi,
I think more options for the full screen view are needed for example whether to show the document in Fit Width view, Fit Page view, etc. Some special options for full screen view should be added so that the user doesn't have to adjust things every time he uses the full screen view. I always have to adjust the settings by zooming to get a "fit width" view whenever I try to read something in full screen. Please add more options for full screen.

I would vote for that. Meanwhile, there is a lot you can do with the Customise options so that fullscreen mode is pretty much obsolete. Right-click on a toolbar and check out what is available.

+1
Also, how do you disable the bottom toolbar with 'options' and page number?

Thanks

From the View menu, you can disable all of these toolbars.

Document Options toolbar
Page Navigation Toolbar
Page Layout Toolbar
Launch Toolbar

You could also use the customise feature to add all of these icons onto a single toolbar to show/hide them in one go with a shortcut.

Enjoy tinkering and let us know what you come up with. :)

Hmm, sorry, I'm being dense here, but I couldn't find a way to remove the _bottom_ bar, I guess we could call it the status bar. All other toolbars, of course, are removable.

I'm using the portable version, in case that matters.

I don't suspect it makes any difference if you're using the Portable version.

The Status bar can be hidden from the View menu, not the Toolbars submenu.

ok, it was not the status toolbars (already disabled). It's the one immediately above that. It has the tools dropbox, page number, and facing, continuous etc icons.

Running: Pdfviewer portable 2.0 , build 39.2 Aug 2008
What I see under view > toolbars is:
File
Standard
Zoom
Rotate view
Comment
Links editor
Measuring
Properties

Note that none of the toolbars you mention:
Document Options toolbar
Page Navigation Toolbar
Page Layout Toolbar
Launch Toolbar

Are there.

The toolbar I want to disable is immune to right click.

You're using an older version;

Hope that helps

it helps, but still on that version the bottom bars become floating ones and don't get integrated with the rest of the interface (weird).

Are there any other big differences between portable and standard versions? I wonder if they are un-synchronized in terms of version numbers for a reason.

I disagree about full-screen been obsolete. It gains space (taskbar, title bar) that you cannot use with the current system of watching pdfs in 2-page view with all toolbars removed.

I will use acrobat till Xchange PDF comes up with 2-page full screen view.

Well, I did say that the fullscreen mode was "pretty much" obsolete.

That is already possible. You can use facing pages or continuous facing pages in full screen view.

Use the customise option to set a shortcut for the two page mode you like. Set another one for a single toolbar with all the icons you need on it, and show/hide it at one side.

Thanks, that works.
It doesn't take over the taskbar though. I wish it did.
Also, there's space between the two pages. I think I've seen somewhere in the options how to disable that, but I cannot find it anymore. Do you know where it is?
Thanks

You're probably thinking of Foxit Reader or another viewer. There is no such option in PDF-XChange AFAIK.
