Firstly, thanks again Tracker Software for your terrific PDF viewer.
I think I've found another minor bug (but also a workaround) ...
The attached document is a single page A4 landscape document (a large graphic, so ~1MB file - sorry).
PDF-XChange Viewer (ver 2.0 build 40.5) displays the document properly in landscape orientation but when I try to print it, it forces the page to portrait orientation.
The only way to get the graphic image to print properly is to rotate the page in the viewer to portrait before printing.

Re: Problem with printing A4 document in landscape
I see no problem here. If my printer is set to landscape orientation, the document prints in landscape. If the printer is set to portrait, checking “Autorotate sheets” on the print dialogue solves the problem. Otherwise, I can select "Reduce to printer margins" to print it as landscape across the portrait sheet, but at a reduced size.

I was afraid someone would say thatBhikkhu Pesala wrote:I see no problem here.
There's no ability to select the orientation in the print dialog (see image attached) - I assume this is because PDF docs can have pages in both orientations. Anyhow, trying to print to an HP Laserjet 3050.

There is. Just press Properties button and specify paper orientation on Printer preferences dialog. There's no ability to select the orientation in the print dialog...
Another possible solution - check option "Auto-rotate sheets" into "Page scaling" group.

No joy there either (see attachment).Ivan - Tracker Software wrote:There is. Just press Properties button and specify paper orientation on Printer preferences dialog.
Thanks, that worked. I'll remember that for next time. However, shouldn't it default to the layout as per the Viewer??Another possible solution - check option "Auto-rotate sheets" into "Page scaling" group.

The landscape option is on the printing tab of the dialogue — image4.jpgangusj wrote:No joy there either (see attachment).

Ah, so it is! Though it's fairly well hidden.Bhikkhu Pesala wrote:The landscape option is on the printing tab of the dialogue — image4.jpg
However again it seems to me that the printer page should default to landscape in this case as that was the page orientation at the time the document was created and is the same orientation as seen in the Viewer.

Look and functionality of Priter preferences dialog isn't Viewer's part -- all depends of printer's driver.Ah, so it is! Though it's fairly well hidden.
No, until "Auto-rotate sheets" is unchecked -- viewer uses default printer's settings, otherwise it will be impossible to print such pages on Portrait pages. However again it seems to me that the printer page should default to landscape in this case as that was the page orientation at the time the document was created and is the same orientation as seen in the Viewer.

Yes, I understand that HP's printer drivers are outside the control of Tracker Software.Ivan - Tracker Software wrote:Look and functionality of Priter preferences dialog isn't Viewer's part -- all depends of printer's driver.
Fair enough. I can see now that this comes down to a personal preference but my suggestion is that it'd be better to have "Auto-rotate sheets" checked by default. No, until "Auto-rotate sheets" is unchecked -- viewer uses default printer's settings, otherwise it will be impossible to print such pages on Portrait pages.
Thanks for your patient explanations and many thanks again for your excellent utility.
