how to select text in a pdf file

Is it possible to select the original text on a PDF file with the select text tool object or is it only possible to select the text you ad ont the pdf
in the same way how to underline a word

i click but nothing happens

As long as the PDF file contains text (not only an image) you can select it with Select Text tool (the one that looks like a T).

To underline text, use the Underline tool that looks like A

Right-click on any toolbar to open the Customise Dialogue, where you can assign shortcuts to each tool if you wish.

As Bhikkhu said, if there is a text in the file you are viewing, and it is not copyright protected you should have no problem in selecting and underlining it.

Please provide us with the .pdf in question. (Please ensure the file is zipped)
