For what is "Shell Extensions"?

Hi,

don't understand what this is for. I can't find anything from the Viewer or other programs in context-menus. Still missing a "Send To" ;)

In Windows Explorer, View thumbnails.

Or, view details, and hide the folders to view the thumbnail in the left pane of Explorer.

I can't find out how to view those thumbnails. Where can I find a description how to use it?

Now, I downloaded newest version PDF-XChange Viewer v.2.04102 and installed shell extensions. It works!
I wonder, why it didn't work with previous versions....
