Extract Pages --> append pages to a file of choice

in post https://forum.pdf-xchange.com/ ... cal#p22430 I asked about drag and drop for selected pages so that I could extract pages from a general pdf and add them to a specific pdf. This was for an application I have had in development (slow development at this stage) for which a component was to allow an operator to scan the daily mail, and then to extract pages and place them into pdf files associated with specific clients.

Your response to the drag and drop idea was that it is not likely to happen (Dec 08)

So, I am revisiting this application to see if there is any other way to be able to extract pages from a pdf using the viewer and get them placed into files of my choice. Is there any way to use your own extract pages dialog to allow you to choose a file of choice. At present the default dialog does not allow you to choose your own name. It creates a name based on macro settings only. I am also not sure if it appends or overwrites, I think overwrites?

Anyway, I am trying to see if there is a way to do this. I love the interface of the pdf viewer, but I am a developer not a programmer, so it must be relatively simple to do. I would love to be able to select the pages, right mouse click, extract the pages, but bring up a dialog box where I could select from a clarion list box, a particular client, and thus a particular pdf name for that client and have the dialog append the extracted pages to the clients pdf file.

Can it be done, and what would be needed?

We cannot provide UI which can satisfy requirements of all developers, and because now we are working on plugins subsystem of the viewer, using which developers will be able to add their own functionality to the viewer. But for now I cannot promize terms when it will be ready.

I understand. I would add though, to add the ability to drag and drop between another control, whether it be another instance of the viewer, or better still some other control (via code) would make the product stand out from the rest, and would add a HUGE potential to developers than can create new applications that could not be be done before.

I have one such application sitting idle, waiting for the day when it can be resurrected with that functionality, until then it is worthless.

For one, I would be prepared to pay for the functionality as a separate add on, it would be that enticing.
