I just recently read some very nice reviews about PDFExchange Viewer, so I downloaded and installed it. I noticed that there was a plugin installed for Firefox. When I first tested it, I was presented the usual download window with the option to open in PDFExchange Viewer. I checked FF's OPtions > Applications and changed the PDF-Xchange Viewer Documents to the Firefox setting. However, when I click on a PDF link, nothing happens.
I do have Foxit installed, however, I did disable the plugin thinking there may be a possible conflict. Still did not work.
I checked some 70 related posts on the forum with identical or very similar problems. I'm wondering if one of the installed Firefox extensions may be the cause. I run NoScript and use it rather than Flash Block. So when I've been opening PDF files in Firefox (using Foxit), I get a new tab with a NoScript overlay where I simply click the page (giving permission to open), and the PDF file is opened on the new tab. I was trying to see if there was anything within NoScript that I might need to change (options). I really didn't see anything that caught my attention.
Is it necessary to remove the foxit plugin from the Plugins folder?
Any help and/or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. -SA Jack

You can easily disable Foxit Firefox plug-in in Foxit reader. Just go to the "Edit->Preferences->Internet" and uncheck "Display PDF in Browser".

Re: Does PDFExchange Firefox Plugin Confiict with Foxit Plugin?
Thank you for the prompt reply.
I had disabled the Foxit plugin from within Firefox, but I did not follow your direction about disabling it from within Foxit's main program. I followed your instructions above, however, I'm still not able to open a PDF XChange tab from within Firefox.
So at this point I've disabled browser view from within Foxit and made sure that PDF XChange alowed browser view. I've disabled the Foxit plugin from within Firefox and enabled the PDF SChange plugin.
Is there anything else I need to check and/or change. While doing some more searching in Google, I ran across a screen shot of the PDF XChange browser layout in Opera. I'm assuming that the view will be the same in Firefox. I do a lot of typing and mark-ups on PDF documents accessed online. I hate having to activate the Foxit Ask Toolbar in order to do these things. And then there's the problem with the watermark Foxit creates when saving.
I really hope I can get this matter resolved.
Thanks again for your help on this matter. -SA Jack

You can also try to delete "npFoxitReaderPlugin.dll" file in firefox plugins directory ("..\Mozilla Firefox\plugins\") or just rename this file to "npFoxitReaderPlugin.bak". Actually by disabling browser plug-in in Foxit, this file should be renamed automatically..

Re: Does PDF XChange Firefox Plugin Confiict with Foxit Plugin?
PROBLEM RESOLVED:
I disabled ALL Firefox extensions then tested the PDF XChange plugin. It worked! I then started loading my extensions back (one at a time). I restarted Firefox after each extension was enabled. Interestingly enough, I was able to load the full set of extensions with no negative impact on PDF XChange Viewer plugin working.
The layout looks great. One feature that Foxit had that Adobe and possibly PDF XChange plugins do not have is responding to a "back" mouse click. I have a Logitech MX 700 that has programmed "back" and "forward" buttons on the mouse. This is a very convenient feature of not having to click the "back" and "forward" buttons on the Firefox toolbar. The keystroke behind the operation of these 2 buttons is <Alt> <Left-Arrow> (or <Right-Arrow>). I had a similar problem with Thunderbrowse running in Thunderbird, so I used KeyConfig to change the key configuration. KeyConfig does not appear to work in the newest Thunderbird (2.0.0.19), so I'm not sure if it's an option in this current situation.
Other than that, I've made the switch from Foxit to PDF XChange Viewer (and plugin).
