Annotation tool creates a new layer

Post by paul1149 »

Hi,
Still enjoying XChange viewer muchly!

I ran across a problem today, one which I doubt there's a solution, but I figured I'd air it out anyway.

I printed a web page to .pdf. Then, upon trying to print it to hard copy, I saw that several of the photos had been cut in two by page feeds. So I fired up the typewriter tool, thinking to add some line feeds to nudge some photos onto their next page. It was then that I discovered that annotation occur as a new layer over the existing content. My linefeeds didn't budge the existing text or photos.

I suppose this approaches the divide between a .pdf viewer and a .pdf editor. It makes for an interesting problem. I could edit the html before I print to .pdf, but that would be a laborious process because I was printing only a Selection from a larger html page. I would have to copy the selection, paste it in an html editor (even an emailer), and work there. Actually, as I consider it, using Print Preview, that might not be too bad a way to do this.

Well, anyway, that's the problem I ran into today.
Be blessed,
p.

You cannot move items into PDF like you are doing this say into HTML or MS Word.
Each element on PDF page has its own absolute position which is not relevant or dependant necessarily on the position of other elements on the page.
