Post by scienceman »

I have a PDF file and although comments, and inserting text works fine, I want to be able to use the highlight tool.

I have tried every sort of dragging over exsisting text or trying to put the cursor on the page and I feel like an idiot, but i just cant figure it out! how do i highly exsisting text in a document?

thanks!

Hi,

could it be that there is in fact no text ? I know this sounds crazy - but if for example this document was scanned to PDF - it is in fact an image file - and no actual text exists ..

If you feel this is not the case - please zip (using winzip etc) and post an example and we will be pleased to assist specifically.

thanks

Sorry for this...but I don't understand if it's possible to extract text from scanned pdf (I have already bought the pro version)
Thanks in advance

You cannot get blood out of a stone. There is no text in a scanned PDF, it is just a graphic.

If you want to convert the graphic to text you must use Optical Character Recognition software such as Free OCR, Abby FineReader, Omnipage, etc.

At least, you could draw a rectangle over the part you want to highlight. Set background colour to yellow, for example, and transparency to 20%.

Good suggestion, Mattes57

About the only way I could see to create a highlight effect on a graphic.

Thanks for your input,
Chris
