Live update doesn't!

I was using the free copy of PDF-Viewer 2.0.42, and everytime I tried to update it it steadfastly refuses. I was trying through the Help Button then Update. There is always an error message coming up that states something about parsing.

I gave up in the end, because I could see no way of solving the problem, unless of course, someone here can tell me differently!

Hi Tony,

If you have 42(Beta) - thats the latest - 42.1 is out any day now - we have it finished, but we are taking a little extra time to resolve some long standing inconsistencies between our various installers which 'cross pollenate' - if you have a PRO version of PDF-XChange or you have one of our products - but only the free viewer etc - likewise the MSI and EXE installer types.

This is taking a little longer to close off than hoped - but having promised many users we would attend to this for some time - we cannot put it off any longer - thanks for your patience.

Thanks for that, but in fact it has never updated through the programme. Even when I had an earlier version, I still got the parsing error message when ever I clicked on the Update button!!

Hi Tony,

there was an error some builds back that was corrected and I suspect that this has persisted because a full uninstall/clean install has not been performed - I would suggest that once build 42.1 is released - you fully uninstall/restart and then use the latest release for a clean install and that should resolve the problems in the future.

I will await the new issue and do as you say. It is interesting though, that I have in fact un-installed and re-installed several times on the basis that it could be something like you have suggested. I will now await the new issue and see if it will function correctly then.

I have tried it the 2.041 update and used Live Update and still it will not work. The parsing error message still come up. The last time I looked the Live Update element for downloading, had not been updated since April.

I am beginning to think that maybe it is time to give up!!

Please run LiveUpdate, and when you got an error, please go to the
"c:\Documents And Settings\<your account name>\Tracker Software\LiveUpdate"
and send me (zip and put here, or use Ivan@tracker-software.com) the file: updates.xml which should be located into the folder.

Ivan, done that but there is no such file on my machine. I have done a full search for it, but it is nowhere to be seen. I have run the Live Update again, and still the parsing error comes up. The only way I have of updating is manually thro' your web site.

Looks like LiveUpdate cannot download this file from our web site. Please check your Firewall/Antivirus

The only way to get the update to function correctly is to disable the WebShield in AVG Pro.

This can be closed out now.
