Update to Xchange 4.0 Pro gets pdf logo when clicking

When I click on an internet link which says it is a pdf file, Xchange 4.0 (recently updated to 165) only returns the pdf logp (with the arrows).

How do I get it to open the pdf document itself.

Hi Gary,

You need to install and use the Viewer. The PDF-XChange 4 build 165 is the virtual print drivers. If you have the Viewer (build 2.422) installed goto Edit->Preferences->File Associations and ensure there is a check in the box View in browser. If you do not have the Viewer installed please download it and install it. Basically you are send the PDF to the Virtual Print Drivers for conversion to PDF, not viewing them.

Thanks for the quick response. I am running viewer 4.2 not 4.22. Recently updated both Viewer and Exchange 4.0 Pro..

Tried the fix you suggested. Did not work but I did not reboot. Do I need to reboot?

That is the latest viewer build, what browser are you using and what is your operating system details?

Does not work in Firefox 3.5.2

Works in Safari for windows

Does not work in IE 8 (get "document is broken" message)

Hi Gary,

I guess you installed the PDF-XChange Pro package, which includes also the viewer?
I had the similar problem with IE (document broken error) and Opera (just the logo is displayed). I don't know, what caused this error, but I think it's an installer issue.
For me installing the viewer again with the Viewer package linked by Chris earlier in this thread helped.

For the support team:
Just in case this helps to find the issue - I'm using Win XP, SP3 32bit with IE 8 and Opera 9.64 as default browser.
The problem occured after updating PDF-XChange PRO and the Viewer with the provided EXE-Installer.

Seemed to have solved the problem in Firefox.

Edit>Preferences>File Associations>Do not check the box called Display PDF in Browser.

IE8 still does not work but I rarely use it.

For those who care, I have had very good luck with Safari finding info not found by Firefox. Although in general, I am very happy with the way Firefox operates and will still use a the default.
