I am using iText PDF to generate dynamic PDF reports in my web app via a back end servlet and displaying inside my browser (IE version 8). The PDF's are displayed with the default magnification - the viewer is ignoring my setting to 'Fit Width' inside my browser window so the PDF is displayed as a partial page zoomed in. I must then click the 'fit width' button to have the proper viewing size. I want it to display as 'Fit Width' initially but the setting under 'Edit','Preferences','Page Display','Initial Display' are being ignored - they are always set back to 'Automatic' when I click on the 'Properties' tab for the displayed PDF document.
I have noticed that if I first display the PDF inside my web browser with the incorrect width problem, save it to disk, then pull it into a standalone viewer - it displays properly to 'fit width'. My 'fit width' problem is only for the PDF's displayed within the browser (IE version 8 and Firefox version 3.5.2 both react the same).
My version of the PDF viewer is the Free download version 2.0 build 42.3. What do I need to do to get these PDF's displayed properly?

Re: Fit Width Not Working with generated PDF from servlet
Please check your settings in the viewer,
look to Menu->Preferences->Page Display:
1. The check box named as "Restore last used Layout and Zoom.." should be unchecked.
2. In combo "Default Page Zoom" should be "Automatic".
If you have settings as above, please send me your pdf to solve trouble.
Thanks.

Re: Fit Width Not Working with generated PDF from servlet
Thanks for the pointers. It works fine now. I see that the settings must be made in both the standalone PDF viewer AND the browser PDF viewer. I was just setting the standalone and assuming the changes would be global. Thank you for you assistance.
