Save As Copy when viewed in Internet Explorer

Post by rmcmanamy »

Why does it only have the Save As Copy option and not the Save As option in the toolbar when you open a PDF through Internet Explorer? I would think by default people would normally want to save as the same name as it was on the website and not with the copy appeneded on.

I'm not sure, what's the difference between "save as" and "save copy as".
The only difference in the manual description is, that the word "copy" is appended to the proposed filename with "save copy as".
Maybe someone from the support can explain the difference.

But you can modify the plugin's toolbars in the same way as the viewer toolbars. But the plugins configuration is independent from the standalone viewer. I've only the "save as" button in my modified plugin's toolbar and had no problems so far.

Yes we can change it but I think they would want to change the default settings for new users.

Hi All,

The save as - saves document as the original filename

The save a copy - checks to see if that file exists already, if it does not it saves as the original filename and if it already exists it saves a copy with "copy" appended to filename. To avoid overwriting the original file.

You'll notice that with the IE plugin. You can right click the plugin toolbar and invoke the menu and use file->save as if you wish. as well.
