Using PDF-XhangeViewer version 2 (build 42.4) on Windows XP home, SP3 with all the updates.
When hiding all bars (eg pressing F11), I cannot access any of the menus with the Alt key combination. EG if I wish to see the File menu, would press Alt-F. However when all bars are hidden, this will not work or for any of the menu options.
Cannot access menus when Hide All Bars activated

Hi Victor,
This is the normal behavior and is working as expected.
You can not use e.g. Alt + F to open the File menu but all other shortcut commands are still working e.g. Ctrl + X and Ctrl + V
Best,
Stefan

Re: Cannot access menus when Hide All Bars activated
Stefan,
Thank you for the reply.
I can see that you what you describe is also present in Adobe Acrobat (reader at least), but is not how wordprocessing programs such as WordPerfect, Word or OpenOffice work (whether hiding bars or full screen).
Although this is an minor annoyance it is distracting to have to switch back and forth to gain access to the menus.

I find that I can use the Alter key to pop up the menus when in fullscreen mode. I wonder what is different about my setup?

Bhikkhu,
He is referring to the case when the menus are hidden (e.g. F11) and not when using the Viewer in full-screen mode - in that case the Alt + key is not working.
Victor,
As a solution for you Full Screen Mode might be the less annoying, and you can change the background colour to gray and it will look almost the same as with all menus hidden.
Cheers,
Stefan

Stefan,
Using just the Full Screen Mode, I cannot use the Alt-F etc keys. Am I missing something?

Victor, try exporting all of your settings from the Edit menu as a backup, then import mine. (Extract the *.dat file)
I use F11 to toggle fullscreen mode. The Alter key is working for the menus both in fullscreen mode and in windowed mode when they are hidden. Shortcut "F" will show/hide the File Toolbar.

Re: Cannot access menus when Hide All Bars activated
Hi Victor,
I am also unable to access the main menu while in full-screen mode, but Bhikkhu can - and that's strange.
Bhikkhu which build are you using?
Will test in a while with your settings to check the result.
I suspect that setting the toggle Fullscreen mode to F11 is what allows you to use the main menu via shortcuts.
Regards,
Stefan

Re: Cannot access menus when Hide All Bars activated
I have tried with various combinations of F11 and F12 and still cannot obtain access to the menus (eg Alt key then F, Alt key and V and so on).
I know this is the way Adobe Acrobat do it, but it is now how any word processing software does it. If you use the software on a netbook (ie a smaller screen such as 10 or 12 inch screen, hiding the bars etc is critical to seeing as much as possible).

Re: Cannot access menus when Hide All Bars activated
Hi Victor,
you should be able to use the ALT key in full screen mode. I just took a vanilla install of 42.2, customized ALT+H for the "Hand Tool" and ALT+S for the "Select Tool". When in full screen mode (F11) these as well as CRTL+B, CTRL+T, CTRL+I etc all work.
Have you tried using Bhikkhu's suggested settings import? Did it work at all?
