Hi RANDOMNAME,

sorry to have taken so long to reply to this post, it seems to have slipped through the cracks so to speak.

Dynamic Stamps support is a planned feature that has not yet been implemented. Expect it in the next major release when we move from version 2.x to 3.x. That will be quite some time away. Not likely this year I expect.

Hi RANDOMNAME,

Purchasing any of our products entitles you for free updates for as long as we provide them (the entire lifespan of that version) and free upgrades to newer versions for one year. So if we release ver3 of the viewer in less than 12 months then yes you will get it for free including all updates for that version too.

If it is more than 12 months since your purchase, then you will have two options - to continue using your current version if it suits your needs (no obligation for future purchase) or upgrade to the new version with a hefty discount.

Best regards,
Stefan

1. I've just downloaded and installed the portable version of free PDF Viewer.
2. I see no Help info. F1 does nothing.
3. I don't see how to add an image annonation. I gather there is a way to make a temporary stamp od the Windows clip board.
4. When I tried to add a new topic to the forum, I wanted me to login and then didn't accept my logic.
5. I said change my password, but that didn't let me in either. No I has that crappy password.
6. How can I return to my own password?

Hi,

2: The portable version has no help file - it is a bare bones install and purposefully all extra's such as help files are removed.

3: For now images must be added as stamps or you can 'copy/paste' from your clipboard

4: Well looks like you got over that as you have posted now ?

5: Email us your user name and required password and we wil change for you.

You may also want to download the help file for the Viewer :

If posting files to this forum - you must archive the files to a ZIP, RAR or 7z file or they will not be uploaded - thank you.

Thanks. How do I add images as stamps? I put my image in the clipboard (copied from Paint), how do I paste it over the file?

Password request on the way.

Hello twidlar,

Your password is updated.

As for adding an image you should actually have the image in the clipboard (e.g. when you press the "Print Screen" button on your keyboard and not when you right click a .jpg file and select copy) and then all you have to do is open our Viewer and press Ctrl + V over a document.

So I can only have a stamp that is a fullscreen image? That's not very useful.
I have a small image that I want to use as a stamp. Isn't there a way to get that into the clipboard on WinXP?

Any image in your clipboard can be pasted and re-sized after pasting - though the best quality will be received from a pre-sized image - or one too big and then made smaller.

Or do I misunderstand ?

If you have image in file and want to use it several times better solution is to add it to custom stamp palette.
And there was issue when pasting image from clipboard - DPI was not taken correctly, so image was not scaled correctly. It is already fixed, but fix will be avail with next build.

I can add a custom stamp to the free version? How?

From a previous message, I understood that the only way I can get an image in the clipboard is with PrtScrn, that selecting and copying an image with cntl-C in WinXP Paint doesn't work. Is that right?

I have an image in a file. I could resize it first if I can't resize it while I am adding to the PDF.

I downloaded the help file. Where do I put it, in the directory with the portable executable?

The first I needed I did already with OpenOffice, imported the PDF into Draw, add the image (resizing), and exported it to PDF. OO is pretty slow, though.

As already said, by pasting it from the clipboard.

Or you can import an image into the Stamp Palette and then you can reuse it in any PDF file.

Open the Custom Stamp palette, add a new custom stamp category, then import an image from your hard disk. If you want transparency, then it needs to be a 32-bit PNG image.

Hi twidlar,

when you create a custom stamp palette you can add stamps from the clipboard as mentioned or an image file or a pdf file. With a document openselect the small downwards pointing arrow nwxt to the image of the current stamp in the tool bar. This will show tha available stamps and at the bottom a button "Show StampsPalette". Click this button to open the Stamps Palette. Here you are presented with options for creating a new stamp "From Image", "From PDF" or "From Clipboard". So you can make a n image with suitable size and transparency as Bhikkhu mentions then turn it into a stamp.

Thanks a lot. As a first-time user, that's the kind of detail I need.

OK, I have the Stamp Pallete open. But when I click From Image, nothing happens. Am I missing something?

Yes. As Bhikkhu says, a couple posts above, create a custom category. Select "New" and give the newly created category a name. Then "from image" will work.

You'll have put it where you like and create a desktop/startmenu shortcut to it as F1 requires a registry entry with a file location to work and this is not possible with the portable version.

It was stated above that, "You'll have put it [the Help file] where you like and create a desktop/startmenu shortcut to it as F1 requires a registry entry with a file location to work and this is not possible with the portable version."

Well, I'm here to tell you that that's not entirely true. I am using the PRO portable version, and I can hit F1 or click on the Help --> Contents link and bring up the Help Manual straightaway. If you create a folder named 'help' (without the quotes, of course) in the SAME directory that you have the executable PDFXCview.exe, and THEN copy the PDF manual -- PDFVManual.pdf -- into the newly created 'help' folder, it works like a charm.

Hope this helps some folks out there. Cheers.

Indeed thanks Shmelovski,

I'd like to point out that this kind of posting is invaluable in helping others. Please do not be shy to share your knowledge of the product, you might be surprised who else was asking themselves that very question. This particualr topic I'm going to use to create a Knowledge Base Article for future reference. (We are working on a searchable Knowledge Base though I won't give an eta on it's launch - it is a rather large undertaking...)

How can the image be pasted by code??

Code: Select all

myViewer.DoVerb(null, "ExecuteCommand", "Paste", out vDataOut, 0);
just does nothing :(

Cew,

you are posting developer questions in the developer SDK forums and then duplicating them in the end user forums - this just makes extra work for all concerned - they will not get answered any quicker, some questions require one of our developer specailists to answer and they will as soon as possible, please be patient, posting in several places will not get them answered any quicker.

Thanks for your understanding.

As I read that you already had this problem and gave hints to solve, I just posted without looking at the name of the current forum.
