Re: MRC Layered Compression?
Thanks Ivan.
Tracker seems to be on the leading edge when it comes to PDF file efficiency, compression and such. I know you guys pride yourselves on being leaders in this area (and you should!) So I thought I would mention this with the hope that you might consider incorporating it into your products.
Some PDF software developers are now incorporating MRC into their pdf creation and management products and it seems to me to be a very useful feature and technology.
I tested one of them by taking a 6.0 mb scanned pdf and running it through their MRC compression feature. I almost fell of my chair! The resulting file was 142 kb and I couldn't tell the difference in quality on either the screen, or the printed document!! I have never seen anything like that. It's a huge benefit. None of the other products I tested (without MRC) was able to reduce the file size below the 6.0 mb.
I have been evaluating other MRC equipped programs and find that some seem to be better than others at making smaller, high quality files using the MRC. One in particular stood out above the others on this particular file (it made the smallest AND highest quality file), but all of them drastically reduced its size. The largest file was only about 350 kb.
Since it's your forum, I won't mention any of the names of the other products, but would be glad to provide them for you if it would help you.
I would love to see this feature implemented into your products by you guys. With your engineering talent, and obviously superior knowledge of the pdf specs., I'm sure you would produce the best implementation of MRC on the market!
Thanks again. I hope this is helpful.

Hi Ryan,
This seems to be a fairly generic term - could you provide any more info - or the names/links for other products using so we can investigate more thoroughly ?
Many thanks.

Re: MRC Layered Compression?
Sure John, I'd be happy to do that. I can give you a few links to some of the developer's sites.
I'm hesitant to post them here since I don't want to promote other company's products in your forum unless you would prefer I do it that way.
Would you like me to post the links here, or would you prefer I e-mail them to you?
