#2 Version 42.4
It is part of a software package that is on a disc and can't reside on my hard drive. There is no install routine to install on a hard drive.
I think the problem is that the program does some coding / decoding and needs Acrobat. Could that be what is going on?

It really is not possible to say without seeing the file ...
is it the only file on this disk that 'we' have problems opening - or are their others ?

It is all the PDF files on the disc.
When I start the CD, an flash index loads and then I can choose which file I want to see. Each time the flash index loads, it also loads a program showing up in the tray. That tray program shows, HCPS Manager and in thebox it shows ACRORD32.EXE.
I think the CD has some type of secure manager that will only allow Adobe to open the PDF files.

Yes, it is possible and in such cases I'm afraid we will not be able to open such files.I think the CD has some type of secure manager that will only allow Adobe to open the PDF files.

I found what was going on. There was a hex-lock on the PDF files and "was" is the key word in this matter. If I pay for something that has information I need, I am not real thrilled when the dev. locks me into Adobe Reader.

I suspect it is part of the licensing you perhaps 'unwittingly' signed with the supplier ..
A case, I am afraid of 'Caveat emptor' ..
