Hi,
I'm running the development track of Google's Chrome on Win XP, and I have the latest PDF-xChange.
Chrome is downloading .pdf files rather than opening them via plugin or giving me the choice, so I don't know if Chrome is seeing PDF-xC at all. Does anyone know how to ensure Chrome is seeing the plugin and how to get it to kick in?
Thanks,
Paul

Re: Plugin in Chrome
To do this you can check your about:plugins Chrome section. (Just navigate to "about:plugins" in Chrome). You should see there "PDF-XChange Viewer" plugin (npPDFXCviewNPPlugin.dll).

Re: Plugin in Chrome
Thanks. Unsurprisingly, there's no listing for PDF-xchange, or any .pdf plugin in Chrome. The question is how to get Chrome to see it. I don't even have the .dll in any firefox folder, yet FF does see it, presumably in one of the Tracker folders.
Thanks,
Paul

Re: Plugin in Chrome
Could you please answer the following questions so we could all clarify the situation:
1. In the PDF-XChange Viewer have you checked the option "Display PDF in Browser" and is the PDF-XChange Viewer set as the default viewer for opening PDF files?
2. Can you open PDFs in Firefox and IE, but cannot open them in Chrome?
3. Have you tried to manually copy "npPDFXCviewNPPlugin.dll" file from the Viewer directory to the Firefox Plugins directory ("Mozilla Firefox\plugins\")?

Re: Plugin in Chrome
1) Hmm, I was not aware of the Display in Browser setting.
2) yes, viewable in IE and FF, not in Chrome.
3) no, I haven't tried that. FF is not a problem, but maybe Chrome takes its cues from FF?
So, I enabled Display in Browser, restarted Chrome, and now I have the plugin. But I'm getting a large red "Demo Version" written diagonally across each page, which I've never seen before.
Thanks,
Paul

Re: Plugin in Chrome
Hi Paul,
In the Viewer goto Help->About, what build number are you using, we are on 42.8 so you may need to run the Help->Check For Updates and get the latest version as that sounds like a bug from a few builds ago that has since been resolved.

Re: Plugin in Chrome
A ha. that seems to have been it. I was running 42.1, now running 42.8. Didn't think it was so long ago that I upgraded - you guys must have been busy! Corwin, Chris, thanks very much for your help. Chrome certainly is a likeable browser, despite lacking some of FF's expanded functionality, and I'm glad to have pdf-xC onboard!
