Error editing a PDF from SharePoint

Post by DClark »

User is running PDF-XChange Viewer v2.0 (build 42.7).
Windows XP Pro 32bit SP3 fully patched

I've uninstalled, reinstalled, ripped everything out of the registry.

The same files work on another users machine. The user has correct permission on the SharePoint site.

I realize it could be profile related, however I haven't wanted to take that step yet.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi DClark,

I've asked one of our project leaders to have a look, should reply soon.

If posting files to this forum - you must archive the files to a ZIP, RAR or 7z file or they will not be uploaded - thank you.

I'm hoping :) Still haven't found a workable solution yet for this user. Let me know if you find anything.

I have tested on our SharePoint server (we are using Team Foundation Server which uses SharePoint) and all works well.

Maybe there are some permissions issues?

No, it's simply a PDF in a standard Document Library. User is click on "Edit Document" to actually launch PDF-XChange Viewer and edit the PDF.

I now have this issue on another users machine (laptop, Windows XP SP3 fully patched). I know it is not a "roaming" profile issue, as I had the first employee move to another machine, inwhich his roaming profile followed him and he was able to work successfully.

Any thoughts? It's evidently local machine based.

Can you check before Editing the file in the viewer, if it exists already in the folder which is noted on the error dialog ?

Thanks

That is the actual path to the document on the SharePoint server, not the local cache, however I will look into this.

The path isn't visible on your screenshot - it is UNC, Local or web path ?

UNC....only blocked it out for "security" purposes....

I swapped the users desktops with a fresh load and everything is fine. I've been playing with his old desktop and still cannot figure out how to fix it. I have another use with the same issue on a laptop I really don't want to swap.
