FDF - Open vs. Import

Post by Marv Hayssen »

I have a process on my website where I use an HTML form and PHP code to build a FDF file. This file will import and display in PDF-XChange with no problem. If I try to open the FDF file directly, it will only open with Adobe Reader. If I try to open it with PDF-XChange I get an error message: Error opening document...Error [PDF Structure 40]: Required Property is not set. Is it possible to open a FDF file directly with PDF-EChange at this time?

thanks,
Marv

Hi mhayssen,

For now only importing .fdf files is supported.

Regards,
Chris
If posting files to this forum - you must archive the files to a ZIP, RAR or 7z file or they will not be uploaded - thank you.

Will there be support for opening fdf files directly? And if yes, is there already a release date for this feature?

Hi Arne,

Yes there are plans to allow direct opening of .fdf files, and I would say this will be available with ver3 of the Viewer later this year.
Will try to get a more specific time frame (if there is any) from the dev team and will add it in this topic.

Cheers,
Stefan
