Greetings. A brand new user here (PDF-XChange 2.0 build 42.9, free version), but a long-ago refugee from Adobe's awful bloatware. This software is impressive, better than Foxit, which I used during the past few years.
One glitch perhaps: I could not remove any of the [Internet] Search Providers using the 'Manage Search Providers' dialog.
However it wasn't difficult to get rid of the ones I wanted to by going to the folder called 'SearchProviders' inside of the software's main folder. For each unwanted provider I deleted both its icon and its XML document.
We're talking Vista Home Premium 32-bit w/SP1.

Re: workaround for inability to remove Internet Search Providers
I had no difficulty removing search providers from the Preferences dialogue.

Re: workaround for inability to remove Internet Search Providers
This is caused by missing write privileges in the programs folder (and its subfolders) for standard users.
On Windows XP most users won't notice anything, since they're probably working as administrator.
But on Vista/7 a big step was made to prevent applications to get access to important directories, since the default account now has only user rights.
If you like to manage the default search providers, you'll need to run PDF-XChange Viewer as administrator (right click a link or the exe and choose "Run as administrator" and it'll work), since they are stored in the programs folder.
While playing around, I noticed, that the cached search provider icons won't be removed if a search provider is deleted in PDF-XChange Viewer (neither for default nor custom search providers).
Oh and please add an option in the setup not to install the default search providers. For now, I have to remove them manually after each update, since I'm using the localized search engines.
Regards, Michael

Aah, yes the old administrator not administrator account,
You're right Mike, Run as Administrator did work. I'll pass on your request.

Chris

Re: workaround for inability to remove Internet Search Providers
Hi, BigMike
We will add new feature into the next version(V3), in "Preferences", there would be an option like "Disable All Search Providers" and on/off check-boxes for each Search Provider item.
Best
Regards.

Thanks, from the original poster. Nice to see such responsiveness from a software group.
I continue to be impressed by the program itself too.

Re: workaround for inability to remove Internet Search Providers
Thanks for implementing "switch off all search providers" in version 2.0.0043.0 release - 28-12-2009. I do not need external search providers in a PDF (and I do not want it)
However, after switching them off, the icon of the last used search provider is still shown in the search toolbar.
When removing each of the search providers separately, a general icon is shown there.
