Cannon MF4150 collate issue

Minor annoyance in your interface to the Canon MF4150 printer driver (there is only one original driver, btw and no evidence they will ever update the current XP, Vista or Win7 drivers for this printer). The collate check box is linked to the driver, but only in the 'useless' direction: If you check collate, it does nothing. If you go into the driver via properties and switch on collate directly in the Finishing options, it works and going back, your interface now shows the collate box checked, so the box accurately reflects the switch in the driver, it just can't actually switch the feature on...sigh.

Many thanks. As I said it's a minor issue and I sorta assumed it could be easily corrected..been hoping for a while we'd get new drivers (or that we could just use the drivers for the MF4350 and 4370 which appear to be virtually identical 'replacements', but they will not install for the 4150...). I'm always impressed by your responsiveness...very refreshing these days.

I just installed version 2.0.49.0 and the issue remains unchanged, is this build supposed to include the 'fix' or am I premature?

Unfortunately, this issue still occurs for Cannon MF4150(MF4100 series) only(not for other printers).
We will try to resolve this problem in the next build.

I checked some other software(Microsoft Word, Wordpad, Notepad) with this printer.
In all cases the "Collate" flag cannot be changed externally, only in the printer's preferences dialog.
I think the printer driver is the one causing the issue here..

Weird, oh well as I said at the start it's a minor issue, just a few extra steps, no big deal. Also weird it's one of an evolution of virtually identical machines but this one is locked to it's first and only drivers which were never updated...thanks for trying.

Postscript to the story, after this I check back on the Canon site and ..lo and behold, after 2 years Cannon has updated printer and toolbox software for XP, Vista and Win 7 for the 4100 series...which i promptly install. And the collate code...has been untouched...neither the Word interface or yours can actually set the collate function...

I will console myself with the knowledge that the actual MF device is nearly perfect: fast, quiet, jamproof and good quality....

That's bad luck - two years of waiting - and still no luck with those drivers.

Our sympathies in this case Couperin, and I hope you enjoy our products and the way they work (when the printer on the other side is cooperating ).
