Script to preset two options

Post by sbcpro.de »

Hi there,

we installed the product on a multi user plattform and it works great. Now we like to build a script that automatically preset the options

1. Show welcome screen = off

2. Attach files as PDF not as ZIP

for all users that log on to the machine. Is there the possibility to set those options e.g. within HKCU or an .ini file? It would be great if the users would not have to start the configuration GUI to set those two options.

Thanks in adv.,
Holger

Hi Holger,

You can always export settings to data file, and then import them on other machine. To export setting form Viewer just click on "Edit" menu -> "Export all settings to data file..." (and "Edit->Import All Settings from data file..." for loadin them). For PDFX-XChange printer you will need to go to printer properties -> "Profiles" and click on "Export..." button.

Hi 'n thanks for the reply.

We already found the ex- and import function and it works just fine, but we like to prevent that the users have to do s.th. manually to preset those two options. That's why we would prever to e.g. set those two options within our profile management toll as a registry key or by replacing an INI file or s.th. like that.

Right now we opened up the viewer in one profile, switched off the welcome screen, closed the viewer and exportet the whole 'tracker software' key out of HKCU. After that we switched on the welcome screen again manually, closed the Viewer again and imported our REG file. Now the welcome screen is switched off again, so we do believe that it must be possible to preset this via a registry setting out of HKCU.

Looks like we have to go into details with Regmon or s.th. like that, uh?

Thanks again,
Holger

Hi, Holger.

For the PDF-XChange Viewer product: you may switch off the splash screen by using the attached reg file.
Just run it after installation.

About PDF-XChange Driver: you can set up the driver, export these settings to a profile, and use it during installation.

To turn off zipping PDFs in emails, it is enough to set value ZIP to 0 by a path

Code: Select all

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Tracker Software\PDF-XChange 4.0\Drivers\<printer_name>\<profile_name>\EMail
for EACH printer name, and EACH profile. So, in common case it is not possible to solve only using .reg file.
