Creating/Editing Links and Named Destinations

Post by jwsmith »

According to Help (p. 152): "The Link Properties screen may be opened either by clicking the Properties button on the Link(s) Properties Toolbar, or simply right-clicking the selected Link. " However, as can be seen in the two screen shots in the attached file: 1) There is no Links Properties available when right clicking the "Usage ..." Link; and 2) There is no "Link(s) Properties Toolbar" available either when right-clicking on the visible Toolbars. So, my first question is why are these elements missing and how do I access/edit the properties of an existing link?

Secondly, I can't find any way to create a "Named Destination" to make that the target of a link (a capability that seems suggested by the many Help references to "Named Destination" (e.g., p. 154, 2) d) vi) ). How do I create a "Named Destination"?

Thanks,

Jeff

Hi jwsmith

do you have the "Rectangle Link Tool" selected when doing this? Not super obvious I must admit but if you select this tool first, then you will see a bounding box around all links that identify the 'hot spot' that is 'clickable'. Now when you right click it you can access the properties. Additionally after selecting a link with this tool the Link Properties Tool is available on the Toolbar.

Thanks, Paul. How about my 2nd question:

"Secondly, I can't find any way to create a "Named Destination" to make that the target of a link (a capability that seems suggested by the many Help references to "Named Destination" (e.g., p. 154, 2) d) vi) ). How do I create a "Named Destination"?"

Hi Jeff,

When you select to add an action to the link you just created, and select "Go to a page in this/another document", then you can either create a new view or click the "Use named destinations" radio button and then click the "Add Current View" as a named destination. (Obviously you should select the page/zoom/location on the page you would want for your destination fist before clocking the "Add Current View" button)

Best,
Stefan
