Find function

Post by Arnold »

When using the find function in a document it will just loop through the same spots it found the word at over and over. This works fine for me as a lot of documents I search are just a few pages long, and I can tell easily that it is looping and finding the same items. Is this the way it is supposed to work though? I was just wondering if someone with a long document might get lost. Or, for a large document should the search function be used?

I find that when I click back in the document with the hand tool the last word found still stays highlighted. No big deal there.

Thanks.

Hi Arnold,

I agree this could be confusing and we will in a future build recognise the fact that the end of the file has been reached with an appropriate message set depending on whether any occurrences were found.

On the same topic, the "find previous" shortcut does not properly loop back around to the bottom of the file. So, if you are in a big file doing "find next" and accidentally skip past the last item, you have to search through them all to get back to it, because "find previous" won't loop backwards.

Hi again aerst2,

look for a fix for this in the next build.
  • We've added an info message to indicate that you are at the end of the current document and asks if you wish to finish your search or find in another document.
  • The issue with "find previous" feature is resolved. Now it can loop back wards correctly.
Build 53 is due out near the end of this month.

This was implemented in build 53 as promised. An audible warning (beep) is also given.
