Initial Dispaly Preferences
I have initial page display preferences set to continuous and fit width (see attached screen shot). No restoring of last used views, etc. The file should open at the top of the document with a magnification of fit width.
When I open a file here it does not open to the top of the file. It always opens just below the top of the first page with a magnification just below fit width. In the screen shot (screen.png) the magnification is 132%. If I then scroll up, or go to the top of the 2nd page, it does then go to fit width and the magnification increases by 1%, in this case to 133% (screen2.png).
This seems to happen over here with all files and even if I set continuous and fit width back to automatic in initial view. Is it just my computer?
Everything works fine otherwise. Thanks.

HI Arnold
it's not just you. I see the same thing. I'm not sure what I would call this - a bug or a quirk but I'll ask one of the dev team to comment on what could be going on here.
cheers

Re: Initial Dispaly Preferences
Since you mentioned quirks. I have one other thing that happens. I have PDFXV open to a blank screen, no file opens at start-up (see attached screen shot). If I then open a slower opening file I see this screen, but there is also an off-center silver box that appears on top. It is only onscreen until the file opens of course. Does not seem to affect anything. Cannot get a screen shot of it as it does not last long.

Re: Initial Dispaly Preferences
Hello Arnold,
I made like 10 tests with the heaviest files I have on my machine, and I think I managed to see it only once
(but my machine is not on the slow end either)
I believe this is a green loading bar showing the progress, if you manage to find a super heavy (e.g. 250-300 MB one page print quality image file) you might see the loading bar in details
Best,
Stefan

Re: Initial Dispaly Preferences
I have never seen the loading bar. I think the largest file I might open is around 40 megabytes though. As I say it flashes by without harm, but attached is an approximation of the box or outline that I see. Thank you for checking it out.

Hi Arnold,
That seems strange - can't recall that I have seen anything similar before.
Will ask around to see if the dev guys know anything about this phenomena
Cheers,
Stefan

Here is how PDFXV opens a file on my computer. I do not see a progress or loading bar. Windows XP sp3. Thanks.

Re: Initial Dispaly Preferences
One other thing I just noticed. When I open a file it opens at 133% magnification. I have it set to open in "fit width" magnification as the default. If I then open a pane (bookmarks, pages), the magnification naturally changes depending on how wide I have the pane set to open. When i dismiss the pane, the page magnification is now at 132%. If i scroll down slightly with the mouse wheel, or press the down arrow key, the screen jumps back to 133%. Seems to behave this way no matter how wide the pane is. Another quirk I believe.

Re: Initial Dispaly Preferences
Thanks Katya. This may be related. If I open a proposal I have prepared it opens at 133%. I then open another proposal and it also opens at 133%. If I then go back to the first file, it is now at 132% unless I scroll down with the arrow key or scroll slightly with the mouse scroll wheel. It then jumps back to 133%. It seems if 3 files are open, the middle one is then at 132%. Thanks.
