This has been very frustrating. I purchased PDF-XChange Viewer Pro which included the PDF-XChange Lite printer driver. I installed this on all PCs at my company using the command line. I now have the Ask Toolbar - I never wanted it. I also am having problems removing this. At this point, I am not very happy with Tracker Software! I used the following command lines to do my installs (licensing info removed for posting):
PDFX4SA_LE.exe /VERYSILENT /NORESTART /PNAME="PDF-XChange 4.0 Lite" /Key=<removed> /Organization=<removed> /Lang=en /PDFV="no"
PDFXVwer.exe /VERYSILENT /NORESTART /COMPONENTS="PDFViewer,Help" /Key:<removed> /Organization:<removed> /Lang=en
When I try to uninstall the toolbar from a Windows 7 computer, I get this error: "Error 2738. Could not access VBScript run time for custom action." How can I get rid of this?
Regards,
Ken

Re: Ask Toolbar removal
Hi ketter,
I'm sorry to hear that you are having troubles removing the Ask Toolbar. I'm sure we can work this out.
What build are you using? I can confirm that the current build of the Viewer (build 2.054) does not install the Ask Toolbar when a serial is passed.
I just did an install using your exact install string and it installed the Viewer without the Ask Toolbar being added. How are you trying to remove the Ask Toolbar? Are you using the Programs and Features applet? What name is there listed in Programs and Features?
This is very strange and I'd like to get to the bottom of this. Can you sens (in a zip archive) screen shots pf the installed programs in "Programs and Features" and the Toolbar in your browser.

Re: Ask Toolbar removal
Paul,
The ask toolbar refused to uninstall on my PC. I found a program called Revo Uninstaller Pro. It was able to fully remove the toolbar. So I don't have anything left to show you at this point.
I am running Viewer Pro 2.0 Build 54. But I think it was the Lite driver that installed the toolbar. I am running Version 4.0 Build 181 of your driver. I would need to verify this, but I think if I installed the driver prior to the viewer, then the driver installed the ask toolbar. If I installed the viewer and then the driver, ask was not installed.
Regards,
Ken

Re: Ask Toolbar removal
Hi ketter
Thanks for getting back to us. The Ask Toolbar is only in the stand alone Viewer. It is not included in PDF-XChange 4 Lite so it can't have come from there.
I did a little more testing and I was unable to get the ask toolbar installed at all using the command line installer. Even sending the word 'removed' in place of where the serial should be only resulted in a trial mode installation but still no Toolbar so I am at a loss to explain what you have seen.
Is there a history in that Revo Uninstaller Pro or log that you could consult to see the name of the Ask Toolbar item that was removed?
